Trevors pov
This was my senior year on campus, and I wanted to be a professional basketballer; however, my dad was against it and demanded i enrolled in a business course. I did as he asked, and three years later i still hate that i didn’t make my way out.
Genevieve gets to do what she wants, but for us boys, we all do business courses. Father just wants us to be like him. I took my stuff and dropped them in the back of the car. I will miss this place. I had a lovely weekend. Especially with Reed. I know he thinks I am just a player, but it was my first time kissing a guy.
Then there is Vanessa, who doesn’t know about all this. She is sweet and was kind enough to play as my girlfriend. She is the only one who knows the truth. That i like boys. What would i do without her?
“I understand why you wouldn’t say goodbye to father but what about the rest of us who care,” Matts’s voice snaps me from my thoughts. “Or you are in such a hurry?”
“Sorry, Matt, I didn’t think you were around. I thought you went to work.” i quickly defend myself. “And why aren’t at work anyway? Are you finally becoming rebellious? It would be lovely to have you as my partner in crime against father.”
“And have my luxury life taken away. I don’t think so. Besides, someone has to look out for you.” he turns around and starts walking. ” Don’t forget to say goodbye to your mother. She is the only one who supports your dreams, after all.” Matt’s voice fades away as he steps into the car and driven off. He is the eldest of us brothers. So organized, no wonder he is dad’s favorite son.
My shoes crush on the pavement as i run towards the house. I have to tell her goodbye as she is never around much. My eyes land on her blonde hair floating in the wind. Her gloves on along with boots and scissors. Tending to her flower garden as always. This must be her poison. Mother is never around, and when she is, it’s always-on her terrace. I carefully walk towards her trying to evade the clutches of thorns.
“Hey, mom i am about to head out. I know we haven’t had time to talk, and here i am saying goodbye.” I bite my lip as i swallow back the pain. I love her so much, and she means everything to me. She has always been strong, and despite what father has done, she is still strong.
” Oh, poor boy. If you keep being so emotional, you will never get a girlfriend at this rate. You do know that we will visit you like we always do with Gen once every three weeks. So you have nothing to worry about.” she chuckles and stares back at me.
“But mom i don’t like leaving you like this. You are always taking care of us, especially Gen, and it is not healthy at your age…” i swallow my words quickly, but it’s too late.
“What did you say? Did you just call me old? How do you think your friends would react once they know this old bag beat you one on one basketball. If i were you, i would take back those words” she smirks and walks out of the garden.
” No, mother i take back my words. You are so beautiful, and you and the best mother anyone could ask for” i shout to her and relieved she is only bluffing.
I walk towards her and hug her goodbye. ” I will visit you in a month.” She nods her head and walks inside the house. My alarm rings, and I quickly remembered that I was supposed to meet with Vanessa before i leave. I jump in the jeep as i start it and drive off towards the queen’s bakery. She will give me an earful, especially now that I am late.
……………………………………………………………..
” Didn’t i tell you to be here by eleven. It’s 12:30. What the hell were you doing?” Vanessa yells at me as she hands me the coffee.
“Well, sorry i took so long to arrive. There was traffic ” i lie to her. She playfully slaps me on the cheek.
“You think i am that gullible. You always bite your lip when you lie you, dummy,” she chuckles and leads me to a bench outside the bakery. “We have only thirty minutes to catch up so spill. Which poor soul did make fall for you?”
“You make it sound so easy. I just had an interesting weekend. I met a guy that I might like.” i explain as i sip on this boiling hot coffee.
“Omgaaaaad, i want the details. Knowing you am sure something happened.” Vanessa shrieks with joy. ” I can already imagine the wedding.”
“No, we didn’t do anything out of the ordinary. We just made out which is…”
“Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!! ” Vanessa screams as her eyes light up and cheeks blushing with excitement.”I want more details. I can only imagine the moment your lips crashed—the tension between you two combining and exploding. I want to know who it is. Tell me. TELL MEEEE!!!”
“Calm down. I will tell you okay.” i roll my eyes and laugh at her excitement. “His name is Reed, and leave a few blocks away from home.”
“Uuuuu such a lovely name. He must be pretty. I want to see him.” show jumps with excitement, and i roll my eyes.
“Look i will explain it to you more later. I am running late to go, and the coach is expecting us to start practice immediately.” i stand up and hug Vanessa. “Text me once you get back.”
“Okay, but you owe me more” Vanessa hugs me back and walks into the bakery. “see you later.”
I unlock the car and jump in. The coach said 2 pm, and it’s already one pm. FUCK. I speed towards campus grounds.
Twenty minutes later, I reach school. Students are bouncing up and down. Others happy while others seem homesick. My eye catches a glimpse of the coach ordering some students around, and they scatter with fear. Welcome to college life where you experience the best and worst moments of your life.
I have thirty-five minutes to myself. I pick my duffle bag and walk towards my room and place it in my closet. I change into my training attire and walk towards the basket courts. On reaching the court couch, orders me to get Andre, who was supervising some students in one of the classes. I obey and rush to the classroom. Running in the hall as i check from class to class until someone bumps into me and almost falls back, and I quickly grab them.
My eyes light up when I see who it is
“Hi cutie,” i choke on my words.
