Types of intelligence.

In 1983 an American psychologist Howard Gardner identified 9 different types of intelligence and described them as follows: logical-mathematical intelligence is by far the most commonly used measures of a person’s intelligence by gauging his capability to explain mathematical problems (“Types of Intelligence and How to Find The One You Are Best In”, 2020). He also identified linguistic intelligence which he described as not only being able to speak different languages but also the capability of using words in a given language efficiently. Then there is visual-spatial intelligence which the ability of a person to think in 3D in that the person has mental imagery, spatial reasoning, artistic skills, and image nmanipulatio (“Types of Intelligence and How to Find The One You Are Best In”, 2020).

The naturalist intelligence which he described as being able to connect to nature, a person with this type of intelligence understands his surrounding very well and is sensitive towards it. There is also musical intelligence where the person understands different types of sounds and has the ability to pick a sound and breaking it down into different elements. Bodily-kinesthetic intelligence is also a form of intelligence that involves a greater hand and eye coordination hence mainly involves physical skills and using these skills to operate objects. Finally, we have intrapersonal intelligence where you are aware of your feelings and understand what is causing such feelings and also being able to understand and respect humanity and the conditions associated with it.

Intelligence falls under Erik Erikson period of generativity versus stagnation since generativity can be classified as a skill because in this period adults are trying to make achievements that will outlast them and therefore they make use of the type of intelligence they poses to teach the younger generation or write something that will live their mark which will outlive them, and those who are successful are considered to poses generativity .

As we transition into middle adulthood there are various physiological changes that occur such as weight gain, muscle wasting, vision lose and bone pain such changes predisposes individuals to some conditions such as sarcopenia and Obesity etc. (Wellness et al., 2020). Therefore, it is important to that individual who fall in this age group commit to a certain lifestyle in order to delay progress or prevent altogether some of these conditions. Exercise is very important in this age since it slows down aging, helps in muscle build-up, increase metabolic rate, controls the level of blood sugar and strengthens immunity, good nutrition helps strengthen immunity, replenishes diminished minerals and vitamins, therefore a balanced diet is advisable (Wellness et al., 2020).

Transitions in relationships between both adults and children.

By this time majority of the adults are married and the happiness in marriage is a U curve, they have few close friends due to the increased life responsibilities. At this age they start having children and as they watch them grow they can fall into a midlife crisis . as the children enter the adolescent stage are faced with emotional challenges due to them trying to look for their independence (“Relationships in Middle Adulthood”, 2020).
