Unit IV: Journal
According to the US fourth national climate assessment summary findings, there are several sectors affected by the current climate fluctuations in contemporary US society. It is quite eminent that these changes have resulted in adverse conditions that affect the community, economy, and health as the primary constructs of society. Among the topics summarized by the assessment reflects on communities alongside the impacts the extremism of climate change has on them. More particularly in Los Angeles, intense and unpredictable rainfall has affected the City causing massive flooding that remains a poignant issue to date. Flooding has damaged infrastructure, ecosystems, and social systems, which are beneficial to the communities. Increased climatic changes are expected to aggravate the already unstable conditions and strain the ecosystems rendering survival of humanity complicated. At the same time, the inconsistency of seasons is also a felt risk in LA where winter storms are experienced that may also cause problems to the communities, especially the low-income earners and the marginalized populations around Los Angeles. The implications of these risk factors include declining human health and safety, poor quality of life, and destruction of homesteads resulting in inadequate housing. The problem of greenhouse gas emissions is a significant cause of climatic fluctuations. Climate change remains a problem in most states, and therefore an apparent and urgent address on ways to combat these changes will assist in mitigating these risk factors.
