Use of technology in the warehouse
The robots are designed to facilitate the interaction between humans and machines. Advanced machine learning and deep learning models allow robots to interact with humans. Robots can be useful for repetitive acts such as loading and unloading shipping containers.
RFID tags do not require a direct line of sight for identification and monitoring, thus being made into an automated tool for monitoring products, vehicles, and logistics. RFID removes the need for hand-held scanning, which allows for better tracking of inventory within an intelligent warehouse.
AGV is transport machine used in warehouses. AGVs can use magnetic or laser-guided navigation to fly around the warehouse on a pre-programmed path. Magnetic navigation utilizes the guided way through the magnetic tape, whereas laser-guided AGVs use laser deflectors positioned near the path.
Natural language processing makes voice-picking possible so that workers can operate hands-free and more safely. Smart glasses are equipped with cameras that use computer vision to recognize barcodes automatically. Also, using computer vision, cameras placed around the warehouse enable end-to-end product tracking.
Sensors that integrate them into the supply chain will allow stakeholders to track goods at every point of delivery and control temperature and humidity inside the trucks. Humidity sensors and temperature sensors are all widely used by the store managers. Adopting sensors that would track the workability and vitalities of drivers is another constructive way to neutralize risks associated with supply chains. Wearables can track the individual performance of employees and critical metrics, such as pulse and blood pressure, which help ensure that employees are not stressed at work.
Blockchain provides direct visibility to the warehouse and inventory managers on how well the product sells and monitors its physical location. The technology helps the store managers more proactively to detect fraud and control the inventory. Blockchain improves decision-making related to warehouse and to predict demand based on the data logs.
