Causes and Preventive Measures of Bedbugs and Meth Lab Production in Hotels
Introduction
Bedbugs travel by hitchhiking, and their infestations are more common in hotels. The activity of people entering and leaving the hotels increases the risk that someone will carry bedbugs to the hotels. The presence of bugs in hotels has raised questions on their effect on the travel and tourism industry. The risk of encountering bedbugs increases as people spend time in hotels with high turnovers of nighttime guests. The infestation of bedbugs can be linked to insecticide resistance, increased international travel, and changes in pest control practices. Bedbug infestations in hotels mostly occur in mattresses, box springs, bedframe, objects near the bed, and headboards. Bedbugs move by traveling on beddings, clothing furniture, and luggage. In hotels, they easily travel between the floors and rooms.

Guests should inspect rooms in the hotels to ensure that there are no bedbugs. Bedbugs are mostly caused by lack of awareness in hotels. Hotels online booking does not show reports of bugs in the hotels. Mostly, they travel in luggage after staying in hotels that are infested. Hotels can prevent bedbug through sanitation by washing the hotel beddings and lines and regularly cleaning the hotel rooms. The hotels can also use mattress protectors that are designed specifically to prevent bedbugs. Mattresses with heating coil controlled by a thermostat are used to eliminate bedbugs in the hotel rooms.

Hotel rooms have been used for meth production, posing a danger to hotels staff and guest when exposed to production and distribution of meth. The creation of meth in hotel rooms can cause explosion putting innocent guests in the danger of injury and damage of the hotel. The production of meth in hotels can be prevented by implementing security and safety programs training. The local law enforcement trains the hotel staff on what to inspect during guest check-in in the establishment. Hotel cleaners should check for coffee and plastic bottles as well as pseudoephedrine drugs, which are key ingredients used to make meth.
