Visual depiction of the 10-step interdisciplinary research process
Final Assignment
Your first workshop will ask you to create a visual depiction of the 10-step interdisciplinary research process. The purpose of this assignment is to help you understand the process better by applying visual metaphors. In other words, how would an artist or cognitive psychologist understand and teach the 10-step process?
You may create a flow chart or diagram, or you can do something more abstract. You may or may not use colors, but you must have something other than words. If you know your research topic already, you may integrate it thematically into the visual, but this is not required. If you feel creatively “stuck” then I encourage you to imagine the process as a recipe and depict it that way.
You should also include a brief, 250-word explanation of how the reader should interpret the resources in your visual depiction. High-quality writing counts.
The steps can be found in the attached file as well as page 78 Table 3.1 of the Repko & Szostak text.
Guidelines:
- All 10 steps must be visually depicted.
- A 250-word explanation must be included.
- Any medium can be used, including computer drawing programs, hand-drawn/painted images, or photograph collages.
- Cite images from the web.
- If submitting a photo of hand-drawn/painted creations, be sure the image is clear and taken with plenty of light.
