Putin’s thirst for power started while he trained and worked in police KGB. He worked as a counterintelligence officer, although he wanted to be put in a special unit as a secret agent. During this period, Putin stared viewing America as an enemy, thus having resentment towards America for the continually humiliating Russia, an attitude that can be linked to his career, which was more of political surveillance. During the cold war that excluded weapons, Putin working as an intelligence officer, was insecure about America. His body language, which was cold and indifferent during his encounter with Bill Clinton, portrayed him as a non-democrat, as seen when he decided to re-write the Russian national anthem. His cold attitude led to him being neglected by the army in the times of the USSR and US clash, which turned out to be a triumph to America. The berlin wall came down, the statues at KGB headquarters were destroyed, and the downfall of the Soviet Union occurred, leading George Bush to declare the start of democracy.
Vladimir Putin rose into power in 1999 when Boris Yeltsin appointed him as a prime minister when he showed his interest in democracy and freedom for all.
