What are some coping methods for dealing with stress? What works best for you, and why?

 

There are various coping methods for dealing with stress that include practising good sleep hygiene where an individual should have enough sleep. Also, one should practice self -soothing techniques that will enable him or her to manage stress effectively, even when alone. The other methods of coping with stress are eating a balanced diet and doing exercise regularly. As for me, the technique that works best regarding dealing with stress is having enough sleep and practising self-soothing techniques. Enough sleep helps in reducing and managing stress because after having enough sleep, one will feel healthy and rejuvenated to handle issues causing stress. Self-soothing techniques are essential because when stressed, one will be able to manage the pressure without having to involve any other person. These two are the best techniques to me, but the methods of managing stress vary from one individual to the other, and thus different people have different ways suitable to them.

It is true that there are various ways of alleviating stress and that different people employ different techniques. Some of the methods that are common to many people are having enough sleep and eating balanced diet since by having enough sleep ensures that one is not fatigued and hence being in a position to handle the stressing situation effectively. As for the balanced diet, one will have enough energy needed in managing stress. With enough sleep and a balanced diet, one will be in a position to think clearly and hence addressing the issues that caused stress effectively.

I agree with Terry that different techniques help in managing stress, and some of the methods include reading the bible and being in prayers when stressed. Prayers support one because, through prayers, one believes that God will answer the prayers, and thus the stressing issues are not anything to bother about anymore. Also, being busy is another technique since one will no have time to think of the stressing things when having a lot to do. Finally being close to someone we love is another technique because when with them, we feel comfortable and in the process, the stress reduces.
