What does your typical day at the office entail?

The following interview took place between a job seeker looking for a position as a communications assistant and an interviewer.

  1. Interviewee: What does your typical day at the office entail?

Interviewer: Well, we mostly deal with writing company announcements, press releases, and other bits of information, which we deem as being essential to media outlets.

  1. Interviewee: Do you have any immediate projects that need to be worked on?

Interviewer: We are currently in the middle of a rebranding process, and this has been occupying the department over the last few weeks. We are also trying to restructure the communications department, although this is a long-term project.

  1. Interviewee: What is the timeline for the rebranding process?

Interviewer: The entire project was rolled out a month ago and is scheduled to be completed within the next three months.

  1. Interviewee: What are the experiences and skills you are looking for in a candidate?

Interviewer: The department is looking for someone who is tenacious and is capable of working under minimal supervision. The candidate also needs to display a degree of ingenuity when dealing with media responses and publishing content.

  1. Interviewee: What type of skills do you feel the communications department is missing?

Interviewer: Well, we are currently starved of creative minds who have the tenacity to communicate the values of the company in a distinct brand voice. We need an individual who is tenacious, creative, and an excellent communicator.

  1. Interviewee: What are some of the biggest challenges this department faces?
  • A major hurdle has been employee attrition rates, but this is a challenge that the entire company is facing.
  1. Interviewee: What are you doing to reduce the high rates of attrition?
  • Currently, the company is focusing on hiring the right people with the right skills to fill any open positions. The potential employee needs to fit the company’s business culture and be able to fit in with the current work setup.
  1. Interviewee: Is the communications assistant role new to this company?
  • The position has been in existence ever since the company was formed and is a vital aspect of the company’s communication endeavors.
  1. Interviewee: Will the job description change in the coming six months?

Interviewer: Since we are currently going through a rebranding and restructuring process, the job description will likely change. However, the changes will be minimal, and the primary responsibilities will remain the same.

  1. Interviewee: What do you enjoy most about working for this company?
  • I enjoy the collaborative spirit that exists between the workers. Everyone is dedicated to achieving the company vision, and this makes the environment a home away from home.
