What if God were a Woman?
In many societies all over the world, people have always associated God with the masculine culture. Most of the Christian and Islam stories signify God as a man. Some of the common concepts related to God include the holy trinity where we have God, the father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. The gender that is evident in this case is that of male. What if God was associated with the female gender what would change?
If God were portrayed as a woman, then ideally, different concepts would change in the world. Many societies have always viewed God as male, including Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. Assuming God was portrayed as a female, then the following would have been done differently. Most of the societies would be matriarchal; that is, they could be led by women. To a greater extent, women would be the ones taking the leadership roles and men acting as their subordinates.
Women would also be accorded more respect. Women being in authority, people would automatically mean that society would sort advice from them, unlike it is in modern society where a male is thought to be more superior. With God having a feminine face, then definitely matters such as having female leaders heading places of worship would be different. A good example is that of catholic churches where women would now be priestesses and performing the roles that priests undertake.
In conclusion, having God with a feminine face would ideally change lots of perceptions, especially on leadership that is evident in society. In terms of equality, men would be maybe fighting for justice and being in the position that women are in the community. Tus, having God as a woman, would undoubtedly have changed the perceptions of modern society and empower women more.
