Why Chaplains Should Have a Seat of the Table
In our day to day livelihood, chaplains having being delegated by the church to serve beyond the congregation’s daily life in all kinds of areas. Some of the areas that chaplains may offer assistance include; jails, offices, shopping centers, prisons, rehabilitation centers, colleges, security services, rural communities, hospitals, universities, and schools. The chaplain has to demonstrate the love of God in the named ways, such as providing care and support. Also, by representing Christian ideas and convictions. Beyond the sanctuary, chaplains share the wonderful privilege of knowing what God is doing out here. The chaplaincy gets to display the highest compassion and reverence of our diverse community, in ecumenical teams or with peers from other denominations.
Results showed openness, acceptance, empathy, caring, fairness, kindness, and dignity are described by chaplains as important. Chaplains acknowledged strong distinctions in their practice and emphasized that it would be counterproductive or to their position to evangelize. Data collection methods used by some chaplains before referring to suitably qualified personnel were of some concern. The role of chaplains is to assist in policymaking and educating the community. Religion goes a long way in instilling character in children at a tender age, thus leading to a morally upright generation. Thus cases of drug abuse, teenage pregnancy, and overall crime would immensely reduce.
As a career opportunity and income-generating opportunity, chaplains are workers of the church who are entitled to a salary like any other career.
Prisoners, those remanded, drug addicts also form part of our community large. Chaplains engage in activities that encourage and help rehabilitate these people to be upright citizens to contribute to their economic state.
Chaplains assist in matters counseling that helps in decision making in our everyday life.
