Why I am a European Patriot
In his article, Roger Cohen would want to describe the patriotism in terms of freedom and peace. Well, the author revolves around evaluated experience that involves, nationalism, aggressiveness a well as self-pity. Hence, the three aspects of a nation would be manipulated to influence patriotism. Therefore, Cohen (2019) believes in a lack of violence and manipulated fear to result in the “salvation” of citizens. Hence by the term salvation, there would less or no contradiction to patriotism. The author concludes in the unity of Europeans as being a peace magnet.
Disease as Political Metaphor
From the very beginning, diseases were treated to be more than evil in society. Sontag (1978) says, that the psychological philosophies of illness affect the affected individuals either at the moment of the disease after healing. Presumably, the author translates the aspect of illness to a political aspect. In fact, the author agrees that evil a disease was traditionally compared to be social immorality. Similarly, the effects of a disease from infection to healing could symbolize a political effect. Hence, metaphorically speaking, the subject represents decay, corruption, weakness and pollution.
Chapter 27: Global Warming and Climate Change
The solution to global warming calls for recognition of its significance. However, since 1900, the challenge has raised due to various factors in the ecosystem. The article explores the factors to be the slowness of global warming, its inertia, and the inconstant effects of global warming. Hence, the most primary factor is the latter in which the dynamic of climate is experienced. Hence the cycles of global warming are viciously escalating causing more harm in the ecosystem.
Chapter 28: Globalization
In this chapter, the author elaborates more on the history of globalization as well as comprehending the process of globalization. Therefore, the author mentions globalization as a phenomenon that is mostly applied to describe the dynamics of the world. Specifically, the author concludes that globalization is a world integration that dates back and brings vital political, cultural, and technological causes. In fact, the author concludes that all individuals need to view it on a limited planet and being a maximized interaction.
