Writing concepts
In other words, Sarah’s thesis can be stated as “the art of public speaking has changed over time from earlier days of talking to a physically present audience to virtual crowd observed through electronic devices through the use of recent technological advancement of the internet that allows online public speaking” Sarah’s thesis is truly a three-part sophisticated thesis. This is because it begins with a topic, which in this case is public speaking and is defined narrowly as was taught by Aristotle in ethos, logos and pathos (Clark & David, 13). The second part of her thesis is a claim that public speaking has undergone a great metamorphosis from ancient time to date; stating that the old day public speakers may be surprised by what it is today. The last bit of the thesis is the support of the claim in which she states categorically that technology has taken over public speaking where tweets, YouTube and other digital media, to prove that public speaking is no longer the same as what it was during the days of Aristotle (Clark & David, 14).
The type of revision used by Sarah is called the old school way, where a student uses pen and paper to rewrite what has been read, from draft to draft. This was the most essential way since she was able to come up with a finer draft after three attempts (Clark & David, 25). She could still use video revision to analyze her presentation or public speeches of renowned public speakers. This would help her make a stronger essay. To change the essay from the thesis –support into a fuller report, Sarah would need to include sources that include literature review, research opinion, and acumen fieldwork (Clark & David, 23).
