The deadly disease COVID -19
The deadly disease COVID -19 is causing a humanitarian crisis all over the world. The conditions have paralyzed thousands of people, business enterprises and generally changed the lifestyle. Sadly we are not even nearing the end. The pandemic is also hitting hard across nations. In my day to day analysis of how leaders respond and act towards finding mitigating solutions to the epidemic, I have come to understand how Dr.Zsuzsana Jakab- the deputy director-general at the World Health Organization is returning to the crisis. Among the top executives on the organization, Dr. Jakab has been able to prepare her teams for any expected emergencies. Most importantly, the leader’s role has been central to keep the team safe, focused, and prepared.
The leadership executed by Jakab is outstanding since the leader has created a central and a clear list of priorities as countermeasures to combat the deadly disease. The ability to centralize the organization’s priorities and decisions comes in handy since most of the employees need personal safety guaranteed as they handle virus clients across the globe.
There exist a transparent chain of command established by Jakab. At this time of departmental crisis manager need to seek authorization firm the head office, Dr.Jakab provides the way forward at any time of the day. As opposed to other leaders around the American States, Dr.Jakab, together with her teams, make hard choices and keep them firm. It is in such a scenario that some leaders get mixed up and give unclear and incoherent priorities to employees. As for Dr. Jakab. She is not shaken by the disruptions and the state of emergence; instead, she keeps calm but critically analyzing the situations as they unfold day in day out. Further, Dr. Jakab allows for a high degree of decentralized decision making. Being at the top of organizations, Jakab respects other leader’s opinions, especially from the medic’s field.
Dr.Jakab has a non-binary approach to problem-solving. In a time like this where the world is grappling with COVID -19, it requires sober minds to think logically on how to keep employees. Many leaders are currently faced with issues on how to maintain or fire employees, especially those working as casuals. Other more options could be considered, such as reducing the full-time workers by almost a half, however, Jakab has been all along steadfast to protect the welfare of all employees since the onset of the COVID 19 disease. The departmental employees look at how Dr.Jakab handles the overwhelming crisis facing the organization in terms of resource mobilization and the need to get deeper into research to establish a long-lasting solution. The fact that this leader is honest, empathetic, clear, and simple makes typically an effort to authenticate information before letting it circulate to the media. At a crucial moment, a solid communication plan has been put in place to reduce panic and the absorption of false news.
As a professional leader, Dr. Jakab is always ready to go beyond the expected in terms of getting more knowledge concerning the disease. Further, Jakab has her way of communicating. She is not a victim of panic, just like other departmental leaders. She is always determined, and she usually says something ten times in ten different ways to make sure people retain at least fifty percent. The empathies, in this case, lies in the observation of the health protocol, such as social distancing and frequently washing hands. As a way of being a unique leader, Dr. Jakab, collects stories of teams coming together to overcome the adversity of the COVID 19 entirely. At a time of crisis, humans respond to the crisis in different ways. As for Jakab, who is a medic, she does not dispute the various theories that explain the genesis of the virus. However, she subjects all information to research findings. These form part of the famous tarts that make her realize her end goal for the benefit of everyone.
