Decentralist Reactions to Globalization

Discuss three types of decentralist reactions to the impact of the world economy in the context of the trend towards globalization of economic activities

The changing global environment presents a different perspective, especially considering the different needs that companies are having in reshaping their commitment to the needs of their citizens. Decentralist considerations have highly emphasized the need to focus on local and national development rather than advocating for global growth, which is primarily associated with increased deviation from local interests and fosters higher global goals (Gajewski, 2017). Different reactions have been developed, which present a different perspective to which it is possible to maintain a higher emphasis on essential changes that help promote change and adoption of better aspects that encourage change and development.

The three significant decentralist reactions that have become common in recent years towards the world economy include the fact that local governments have remained steadfast in fostering the development of their people rather than global ideology. When faced with serious economic challenges, countries have focused on implementing regional and local policies to improve their focus as major responses. When considering regional devolution, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland have obtained independence in making their own economic decisions despite being part of the greater United Kingdom (Porcher, 2019).

Another aspect is that majority of countries in the world are divided based on culture, which makes it difficult to develop a universal system that can help present a more exceptional system that promotes change. The development of nationalist-separatist has been developed to achieve independence. The global economy has also led to decentralization rather than centralization. The clustering of these approaches presents a more exceptional system which defines a more robust system which helps in creating a more reliable system that offers a unique system that present change as well as better processes within the economy (Béland & Lecours, 2019).  Countries have emphasized on leading their economic development. Brexit has presented a stronger focus on the decisions that are being undertaken by countries to protect their local economies rather than emphasizing on the global economy (Colantone & Stanig, 2018).
