Growing up Trans
This film is about people who are transgender. Transgender also means Trans female or Trans male or just trans. The film highlights some of the challenges people are through while growing.
Identifying as transgender is different from sexuality. It could be that someone is born female, but their gender identity is male, and some could be that someone is born male, but their gender identity is female. Most people know that they are transgender while still young, while some people only discover later in life. There are different ways in which Transgender people express their identities. Some people use dress, mannerism, and behaviors to live as the gender they feel right to them.
Diversities in gender can occur to transgender people in terms of their sexual orientation, gender expressions, and gender identities. Anxiety, distress, and unhappiness may result in some transgender people, and they may require medical care to transition (Hill). Some transgender people decide to transition. Transitioning can either be through social development or medical transformation. Medical change in Trans men includes hormone therapy, male chest construction, phalloplasty, and metoidioplasty. In Trans women, the therapeutic change includes hormone therapy, laser hair removal, breast augmentation, tracheal shave, penile inversion, Orchiemetary.
Some TranSgender people may decide to transition socially. Reasons such as why people refrain from medical transitions depend on costs or unavailability of the desired procedures. Accessing medical care as a transgender person is very challenging because not all doctors or nurses are informed about the required healthcare. Most people prefer coming out as transgender by telling people about the pronouns you prefer, to regard you by the gender identity you feel comfortable with ot to call you with the name you like. Deciding on coming out as trans is a personal, and nobody should compel a transgender person to reveal or admit their situation.
Communities need to accept transgender people and provide equal opportunities for them. Furthermore, people should respect the names transgender people call themselves.
