I agree with you, spirituality is based on your understanding of the insight of life and the views and visions you have. Spirituality can also be about the connection one has with God or a supernatural power (Swinton & Vanderpot, 2017). It reminds a person of their purpose in life by having a closer relationship with God. Spirituality guides people through life and helps them build a life they desire. Spirituality gives a person a deeper understanding of life and helps them have a connection with other people (O’brien, 2017). This is essential in providing patient care and hence the reason why spirituality important in healthcare. It helps nurses deal with challenges they encounter and have proper interaction with the patients from diverse backgrounds and religion. It also helps nurses work collaboratively with other colleagues.

As you stated, spirituality to some people can mean having a connection with God and the Holy Trinity. However, I would like to add that, spirituality does not have to be connected to a religion. There people who do not believe in God but are spiritual (O’brien, 2017). This is the kind of spirituality gained from exercises like yoga and meditation. Therefore, to some extent, one would say spirituality is having a deeper understanding of your visions, life and purpose. It is working through your problems and leading life not by physical feelings but by spirit and understanding. Additionally, spirituality is not the same as religious. A religious person bases their faith on dominions and doctrines while spiritual people have a good understanding of life and they do not have to be religious.

I agree with you, Steven. The spiritual world is an eternal realm that is made of images and assumptions that one believe is true and which he uses to go through life. To most Christians, spirituality refers to having a deeper relationship and connection with God and the Holy Spirit. It also involves putting one’s faith in God for everything that happens in life. However, it is not all times that spirituality is connected to God, in some culture; it involves meditating about life and enhancing positive thinking (Swinton & Vanderpot, 2017). Either way, spirituality is essential for inpatient care. Most patients would use their spirituality and faith to deal with health conditions. In this regard, care providers need to have a good understanding of the patient’s spirituality to be able to have proper interaction and collaboration which essential in providing quality care (O’brien, 2017).
