Mentor and Millennials
Getting millennials and baby-boomer generation to work together is an essential aspect of success in any organization in that both generations often add value to the enterprise.
The millennial can mentor the Baby Boomer in a less-formal setting to avoid the likelihood of resistance. Millennials can provide mentorship to the older generations on the use of new technologies, addressing technical issues, and making use of the latest social-media hangout. In order to achieve this, the management should encourage individuals in the older generation to reflect on gaining new perspectives (Madera, Kapoor, Kapoor, & Solomon, 2011). U. They should also encourage the sharing of information by the millennials to help the boomers’ mentors to become interested in gaining additional knowledge. Sharing information about technical skills can cause baby boomers to understand marketing insights and demands of the new generation of customers. In order to foster friendly relationships between the different mentors, the management should reduce the likelihood of generational conflict especially with regard to working hours and abolishment of behaviors it works such as the use of cellphones that could cause resistance from the Baby Boomer generations.
Enabling the transfer of knowledge, fostering cooperation, and understanding can make it easy for millennials to mentor leaders in the baby boomer generation.
