Future Managerial Challenges for the Organization

As technological advancements and managerial functions keep changing with time, the challenges that come with these changes for organizations are also evolving. Management professionals are facing new problems in handling organizational behavior and other managerial tasks. One of the challenges is maintaining diversity within the workforce. A key problem for firms is promoting the adoption of different groups of persons by analyzing unique work styles and family requirements. Young adults wish to retain their cultural identity despite working within the same organization with common policies (Theintactone.com). Another challenge that managerial professionals will face is responding to globalization. Future businesses are market-driven, and firms will aim to get to where the consumer demand is regardless of location, distance, or climatic conditions. Stiff competition will force managers to expand to acquire market share.

Additionally, the emergence and growth of e-organizations and e-commerce will present a new problem for managers. Currently, there is a tremendous shift from retail shopping to online shopping, as consumers prefer to complete their transactions online. Managers will be forced to find new ways to interact and relate with consumers through digital platforms and online avenues. Management professionals will also be forced to address mental health issues. The U.S Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recognizes mental health disorders among the most burdensome concerns in the work environment. Reports from the organization assert that close to 1 in 5 adults has some type of mental illness in the workplace (Doheny). Managers will hence have to show concerns for their employees’ mental health to retain top talent in the future when the labor market is tight. Another future challenge in management is addressing independent contractors as valid employees of the organization. The forthcoming generation, which will make the majority of laborers in the next twenty years value the flexibility that comes with freelancing. Managers will, therefore, have to recognize independent contractors as the firm’s employees while still finding new ways of boosting their productivity, similarly to traditional employees.
