all people are equal despite their skin color
In every society, people live with their set principals who may be cognitive or proven to be facts by using science. A significant number of the population, whether in the United States or any other part in the world, have an in-depth misconception about something, this always brings division one person or group supporting different sides. These differences bring rivalry and harmful misunderstandings because of different opinions. Citizens in the United States have the right to be heard; hence I do not need to support anyone or anything as long as I do not believe in it. I have been treated differently in school, at work, in business, and society. It happened when we were discussing equality and about human beings based on science, religion, and other traditional approaches. My stand was that all people are equal despite their skin color.
One area where we differed most is that the majority of the poor people in the United States are either Hispanic, Latin American, or Black American. I felt like I was being targeted personally not because of my race but because of my opinion, which was research-based with proven facts. I asked myself lots of questions about how a population less than a quarter of the American people can make the most privileged. It affected my esteem and my ambitions when I was taking my economics and statistics course in college. The only thing that these groups were portrayed as slaves with no formal jobs to sustain their lives. For instance, one person viewed Black Americans as descendants of mere slaves who had no economic value, and even though there is no slavery today, the miserable lives experienced by slaves are still there today. It was diminishing to realize that nobody appreciated the achievements of our founding parents just because of unexamined believes that they did not achieve anything. Even though being aware of the truth about the successes of these minority groups have encouraged me, I have had to coup with discrimination solely based on my stand.
Even in business, we have had different opinions and heated debates on how or which is the best way to work in a company? How a company should employ techniques to achieve its actual potential mostly when their rivals or competitors are thriving because of embracing new methods of work. Some people supported the result at all cost approach while I emphasized skills and competence. My argument was that there should be no other side methods of getting the job done outside the confined regulations. Even after proving myself right through profession, I felt that they were having a lack of trust and value for career courses. Some people dedicate their lives to research on the best ways to handle and improve business environments. Despite all the resources and time they sacrifice, people still downgrade their efforts. I felt relegated to the lowest illiteracy level. The feeling of being lowered made me think that it is the right time to set these misconceptions clear since today’s workplace is looking young, flexible, and bright.
As an American, I have differed with people who feel that we have achieved racial equality as a country. About six people out of ten support or says that America needs to keep changing policies to bring equal rights between blacks and whites. In comparison, a lesser number of three people out of ten believe we already have the necessary strategies to bring about equality. I felt deeply stressed and disturbed by how people differ concerning the treatment of black people. The challenges they face are ignored and generalized as individual prejudice, while in a real sense, they face institutional racism. I feel like racial superiority is still alive, which sometimes makes me think or wonder if being white is better than being black. It has affected my studies and life as a whole because I tend to be ashamed of myself instead of being proud. Sometimes I get emotional and feel like social problems are directed to me; I often ask myself why I was not born white or any other superior race. I keep on referring to myself why do I have to develop social anxiety and lack of confidence to the extent of suffering depression just because I do not agree with the misconceptions of some people or groups. There should be changes in how to provide equal rights for all people since some people have being affected to the extent of losing self-worth. It is not about individual black people, nor is it about democrats and republicans, but it is about human rights.
At workplaces, in the courts, when dealing with the police, when voting, when applying for loans or mortgage, when voting and in restaurants or stores. People still differ because of their radicals views. I feel racial discrimination is the main reason why blacks and other minority groups have always struggled to achieve in life compared to whites. When people were asked what the primary cause for hard times experienced by blacks and other groups, most whites ignored racial discrimination. They supported minor issues like family instability, lack of role models, and low-quality schools. It is a clear pointer on how people underrate racial discrimination effects, which have affected the lives and families of the victims of racism. People have intentionally ignored me and supported negative things as the leading cause of poverty among blacks like drugs and crime. It has made me feel awkward, incompetent, and hated. They have openly criticized me and even point of noting my flaws. The effects of racial discrimination are deep-rooted than people imagine.
We should not assume the effects of being ‘othered’ like increased depression because of feeling like I am wrong all the time, which has also been associated with other health problems mostly to children. This specific instant of arguing about discrimination always made me emotional igniting a strong urge or demand from myself to respond to people who we differ. A physician advised me that it is called ‘allostatic load,’ which even leads to a physical fight and other severe health conditions like blood pressure. However, I restrain myself from going to such extents of even breaking the law. Growing in the United States today continues to be challenging because of its diverse cultural societies. America is still struggling to end racial oppression and maintain the equal opportunity for all regardless of their opinion, preference or taste, and race. There need to be strong regulations to protect people from unexamined biases.
