A1. What are specific ways to limit the potential for power abuse in health care organization?

Having a code of conduct which defines acceptable and unacceptable behaviours at the workplace and potential consequences workers found misusing their powers. Possible abuse of power can be avoided by training workers on how they are expected to conduct themselves at the place of work by treating their colleagues in ways acceptable in the code of conduct. Stringent disciplinary measures should also be clearly outlined to the workers within the organization so that they are aware of dire consequences they are likely to face if they are caught misusing their powers. Having a support system in place, such as the human resource personnel who inspect and observe interactions within the workers will also help in the management of the workers to avoid cases of power misuse.

What specific HR strategies and transparency mechanisms could be created within hospitals or physicians that would help prevent any stakeholders, particularly the top leaders, from pursuing self-interested goals in suspect ways?

There are HR strategies that can be put in place to ensure that even the stakeholders, for instance, do not pursue self- interest goals and to maintain the integrity of the organization. The HR ensures that stakeholders display ethical behaviour at the place of work, and this is done by the supervision of roles done by the individuals. The HR also provides that fair personnel policies that will see to it that duties at the organization are fulfilled are put in place, and this will ensure that all stakeholders in the healthcare facility will behave as expected. The HR comes up with the code of conduct, and they supervise guided by it, and this ensures that all people act appropriately when performing duties at the workplace. They also call for transparency by ensuring that all data is recorded for use in decision making within the institution, and this helps keep the workers and stakeholders in check.

QUESTION 2

For the nurses’ pleas about the working conditions and pay listened without unionization,  they first have to meet with the manager in charge and talk about it. They also write a letter communicating to the manager about their demands. The message has to clearly outline what challenges they are facing at the workplace and how they would want them improved. They also have to state clearly what changes they want in their salary raise. The nurses are to give room for negotiation about their demands s that they can get a chance to meet and discuss their pleas on a one on one basis so that they agree with the management. Because the nurses are not allowed to unionize, the administration must give them a listening ear to avoid poor performances at work or even strikes.
