Required Components
This research assignment is designed to assist you in your progression towards a professional degree or other professional certification in the field. Almost all of these types of careers will require at minimum, a master’s degree or a professional doctorate. Research is required for both and will undoubtedly include all or most of the following components, all of which must accompany your project. I have provided courtesy estimates for how much of your project that each section should compose. If you are doing a skit, you will need to be creative in how you apply the sections to your skit.
Introduction: Briefly introduce your topic and provide an overview, including it’s relevancy and importance & issues you’ll address (10%)
Literature Review: A critical part of the assignment, this is where you will provide peer-reviewed and/or credible sources that support the topic, problems, solutions, etc. and give the reader more information about the issue (20%)
Methodology: Explain how you will collect data & from whom (surveys, interviews, a mixture of both); what are your predictions? (10%)
Results/Findings: What happened as a result of your surveys and/or interviews? Any common themes/occurrences? What stood out? (25%)
Discussion: Analyze your findings. This is not the same as simply presenting your results. This is where critical thinking comes into play. What applications might this have for your career field? Future applications? Positives and negatives? Errors/Flaws?, Etc. (25%)
Conclusion: Summarize your research project. What are the main take-a-ways? Restate critical points and state final points. (10%)
