According to the Anglo-Texan, the people of Mexico were born with cruelty and were the only language they understood. They accused the people of Mexico as thieves who were associated with horses and cattle. The Texans viewed themselves as superior, and there was no one to be likening with them.

According to Parades, the border was in a perfect environment as there was a river nearby. Hence, a great advantage to the people because of the availability of fertile soil suitable for farming. The people along the border had a well-established culture that brought mutual understanding among the communities. Therefore encouraging economic activities, and at the end of it all, there was development. It was a region that was characterized by great honor.

The conflict arose as a result of identity when the new colonists from Texas arrived in the region and started constructing homes. They took the land that belongs to the Mexicans and trampled on their culture, making them slaves. They started shooting and killing the Mexican accusing them of stealing from them; something leads to war between the two parties. Hence, diplomacy did resolve the problems of land and settlement.

The author has mentioned Cortez as a hero simply because the man was courageous and very brilliant. He had knowledge and skills, and many times, he escaped from the hands of brutal police. It is after he kills the sheriff and manages to hide for quite a long time. When arrested and taken to court, he uses very impassioned words. Therefore the writer views him as a hero because he dared to challenge the authorities.

Parades mentioned Professor Webb is his writings as an excellent historian. It is very accurate because Parades quote him by saying, “Professor Webb noted everything that was going on at the border where the law victimized the Mexicans.” His excellent research and analysis of every event step by step, including evidence to the same, qualified him to be the greatest historian.
