Anaerobic treatment
Anaerobic treatment or digestion is the process in which microorganisms break down organic materials. It is essential to note that organic materials are substances or residuals that come from or are made up of plants or animals. This may include animal manures, food scraps, fats, oils & greases, industrial organic residuals, and sewage sludge. Anaerobic digestion often takes place in a place without air, and that is why it is called anaerobic. It is also essential to note that when microorganisms are broken down, biogas is produced as one of the by-products.
