Speech Draft
Every organization has a system development cycle. This system is essential in providing chronological aspects of every system or event. As an IT director, if the vice president of finance complained that the system development cycle was taking too long and that her expertise knows what they are doing so there is a need for the approval of their system requests, I will need to assure her that indeed I know her team knows each activity and event they are doing. However, even though they are qualified, some things require evaluation, which I think, they will not have the time or ability to handle. Below is what I will say to her;
I agree with you, madam, and I understand that your team knows what they are doing. However, the system development cycle has various benefits not only in the IT department but also in the other departments of our organizations, and accounting is not an exception. Therefore, even though your staff is qualified, they might lack time and the ability to evaluate some of the development cycle processes. This is to imply that all the processes of development during the implementation of an information system are equally important in our organization. It is also true that the development cycle is a long process; however, our focus as an IT team is to determine and ensure that we have set tangible goals and objectives, and the entire organization is working towards achieving the same and not just the accounting sector (Lemke, 2018).
Among the goals for development system cycles, cost reduction, and acquisition of more information is paramount. Thus, we might not be directly working with the accounting department to get information, but we are working with customer service and other departments to get information essential to improve services, foster better performance as well as supporting innovations of products and services (Lemke, 2018). Understandably, project systems are impacted or affected by a variety of factors, which I believe your team might not know or understand even though they are qualified. The factors can be both internal and external. The internal factors are top managers, the IT department and requests from users. The internal factors can be suppliers, improvements in technology, and the government. I appreciate the level of confidence you have for your team of professionals; however, we need to work together to achieve the goals of our departments and the entire organization.
