REFLECTIVE PAPER ON TEAMWORK.
Introduction.
I am glad to have an opportunity to reflect on the activities that led to the presentation of the paper. Despite the severe conditions presented by COVID-19, we were able to conduct a virtual meeting with a fellow student whom we were to work as a team. From the get-go, I created a good rapport with my colleague to ease the discussion process. Both of us were up to the task and took advantage of every opportunity to ensure we had the best presentation. I gained skills in problem-solving, planning, utilization of technology in holding virtual meetings and purposeful communication.
Challenges.
The process, however, faced several challenges. To start with, the only way we could meet was through Zoom and thus face to face engagements were impossible. Online meetings were, at times, affected by the difference in time zones and inadequate network coverage. I believe physical sessions would have made the process more efficient. Furthermore, the restrictions on movement meant we could not access further reading material from the University Library; thus, we had to rely on online content and the few books in our possession. Despite the challenges, we came up with a clear plan on how and when to conduct our meetings to meet the deadline.
Teamwork.
Our teamwork was exemplary throughout the process. I discovered my partner was good at collection and compilation of data while I was excellent at presentation and finding out of any errors. We, therefore, brought in to play our strengthens and skills to facilitate the process. Additionally, I was good at keeping time when it came to holding of zoom sessions. I, therefore, played the role of a timekeeper by ensuring we conducted daily cut out duties without fail. At some point, we had to divide responsibilities that we handled separately to save on time.
We understood the amount of work we were supposed to handle before the submission date. Therefore, three weeks before submission, we had several meetings that culminated in the selection of one topic on the impact of technology in education. The following weeks were mainly meant for gathering and compilation of data and interpretation of information that would be on the slides. To ensure the presentation was flawless, we conducted several rehearsals, and we recorded the final presentation four days to the submission date.
Lessons learnt.
Even though we were able to conduct discussions and submit our presentation on time, I believe room for physical engagements would have been more effective. The movement would aide in the collection of data and further consultations. I equally came to comprehend that teamwork is an attribute that every individual need to accomplish given tasks in a group set up. Additionally, having a lean team is enhances collaboration and cooperation and thus becomes more active. With a lean team, it is more accessible to follow-up on the progress of everyone and time spent on making decisions is less compared to a bigger group as every party would have varied opinions.
