Behavior-based topic
The research is a behavior-based topic. The research uses a survey as a data collection tool where study participants give responses to study questions. The survey is essential in collecting broad and detailed data on the social and demographic aspects of a large population. The data for the research is from the NYC Youth Risk Behavior Survey and the Community Health Surveys (Smolders et al., 2020). The survey consists of 106,000 high school students who are the participants from New York City. 50% of the entire number report consumption of one or more sugary drinks per day. The following are percentages of students reporting consumption of sugary energy drinks within towns in New York. Bronx had 21,000 which is equivalent to an average of 55.8%, Brooklyn 30,000 student’s equivalent to 50.0%, Manhattan 21,000 students which are equivalent to 48.5%, Queen 27,000 students which are equivalent to 48.6% and Staten Island 8,000 students which are equivalent to 49.4%. On average, 50% 0f youths consume one or more sugary drinks per day. The graphical analysis did show a decrease in sugary drinks consumption per day from 2007 to 2011. In the entire New York City, sugar drinks consumption shows a decrease from 57% to 51%. Records of a decrease in sugary drink consumption in the respective town shos, Bronx from 63% to 58%, Brooklyn from 54% to 50%, Manhattan 52%, which was a record in both 2007 and 2011. Queens’s sugar drink consumption decreases from 58% to 48% and State Island 55% to 50%.
