Thousand and One Nights
Thousands and one night is a fixture narrative. It is a story that entails literary creations of various genres, such as romance, poems, calamity, salacious, historical tales, and caricature. The basic story has fantastic content, and it is about a princess who just wedded a king. The princess is about to face execution from her husband, King Shahrayar, who kills his wives a day after he marries. The princess’s husband wallows himself killing all women who wed him after dwindling her wife’s maidenhead and executing her the following day to maintain his honor. The King’s first wife committed adultery and disobeyed there marriage, and that is the reason why he is killing his new wife. The King thinks that all women are unfaithful and deceitful thus he thinks they should not be trusted.
Scheherazade, who is the princess, is a wise woman and one of the Kings newly married wives. Scheherazade marries the King with an attention to save herself and other women from the King’s executions. To achieve her intentions, the night after their weddings, she begins to tell the King an interesting tale. However, she makes sure that she does not end the tale before they go to bed. The King becomes curious to getting to the end of the tale thus he does not execute Scheherazade. The following night, Scheherazade tell the end of her story then begins to tell of another tale that she does not finish again. The King remains curious again and he postpones Scheherazade’s execution. The same pattern recurs until it reaches a thousand and one nights. The tales of Scheherazade are in the novel and are of different authors and genre.
