The community where I am living is good from many points of views, but there are some characteristics of the community that makes the place difficult to live. We all want the hometown where we live should be safe and secure, and I want it. I am not talking about significant thefts and other types of high-class crimes. In the housing community, there are street thefts, and other minor crimes are widespread. After reviewing the steps on the website, I want to start a watch group to eliminate these small or minor crimes from the area. Leaving is not an option because, along with these minor crimes, numerous reasons make the place worth living.

As stated on the website, the first step is to recruit and organize many possible neighbors. For this step, I would have to spread information about the watch group and its benefits for the community. It would be easy because people of my neighborhood are all intended and motivated to collectively save their community. To start a neighborhood watch program, I will collect people that can make potential and committed group. Then, the settlement of objectives would be the second step, and the objective is to watch community problems and put efforts to solve the focused problem.

In the second step to start a community watch group, I will have to contact the law enforcement agency to schedule a meeting and introduce its purpose. Meeting and cooperating with law enforcement agencies is mandatory to keep things fluent and to keep them in contact whenever needed.

The third and most important plan is to discuss community concerns and to make a plan. The first and significant community concern is to protect the community from minor street crimes like snatching and kidnapping. The primary purpose of the watch group would be to protect the community from these two crimes. The second purpose of the community watch group would be to maintain peace and stability in the community. The plan will be created with the collaboration of all neighborhood watch group program. This plan would be productive as well as realistic to be achieved.

The fourth step is to communicate the change plan. Because we live in a technologically advanced world, communication through social media would be more effective. And I have a vast social circle; thus, meetings would be also be used to communicate the action plan. All group members will contribute to the betterment of the community and will be intended as well as motivated to achieve the goals of the plan. Social media is an authoritative source that will potentially spread information about the watch group’s efforts and objectives. Using the website, I will analyze all required or available resources to make the plan more durable and potential.

The last step is to hold meetings and events to train watch group members for better services and better operation towards the action plan. The neighborhood watch group would committedly achieve goals settled in the action plan. For the community, I am living if minor crimes would be eliminated; it would be a great area or residence to live. Being citizens, it is our responsibility to protect the place where we live in all possible forms.

Because of the existence of crime in my community, I think Youth Crime Prevention Programs would be better to work there. This program aims to protect youth involvement in criminal activities. I chose this program because I know the crime is performed by adult boys who fail to build their future. Implementation of this program would protect the youth of my community and guide them to divert their attention towards personality building. From stated operations, there is nothing present in the community. Community administration held control over the community by setting some small scale rules, and such significant operations are not implemented. I want the Youth Crime Prevention Programs to be enforced into the community because it a two-way beneficial for community members. This program, along with the watch group’s efforts, will help me achieve the desired change in the community environment. The website is useful in guiding neighborhood actions and making us realize the responsibilities of a citizen (WATCH, 2020).
