Personal essay school application
The excitement was high, and I could feel joy anytime I thought about it. Every this was calm, and my mind was clear of any destruction that would ruin the pleasure that I felt inside. The grave silence and calmness the house seemed to collaborate to pave the way for the feelings that flowed deep down. Everything was still as I lay on my bed, visualizing how things would be. I sunk into my thoughts, and I was carried away by the silence around. The only sounds that I could hear were the gentle beats of my heart and the tick-tock of the clock on the wall that reminded me that every second brought me closer to the event that I had waited for so long.
Earlier in the day, I had packed the clothes that I would be wearing in my residence. I had already made the necessary arrangements and done a survey of the area where I would be staying and the various facilities surrounding the area that I would often be visiting. I remember them having a conversation the previous day talking to my friends in the neighborhood telling them how excited I was, and they were going to miss me before I could come back during the holidays. This memory flashed through my mind, and I found myself smiling by myself.
I woke from bed to look at the time on the wall clock. It was 3:30 in the evening. I could not imagine that my journey would start in the next few hours. I remembered the last time was in the city the previous year. I remembered the friends that I made during the time I went for a pre-visit in the institution to access the different facilities that are within the institution. During my time there, I had made several friends there who took me through the various facilities on the premise. I remember the moments I had and the promises they had made when I join them and be part of the fraternity. I gasped since I was sure that the day that I had greatly waited for had finally come.
I don’t remember how long I was carried out by my imaginations, but I was brought to my senses by the sound of my phone ringing. Looking at it, I found that it was my father. When I picked it, I was astonished by the news he passed to me. I felt that my world had shrunk. I could not believe all my preparations and plans would not happen. I told to switch on the television and watch the news. I was shocked by the news that all public institutions had been locked down due to the increased spread of coronavirus, which imposed fear in the entire world. I had no choice but to accept the propose distance learning program.
This aspect was one of the greatest disappointments I had ever felt. I imagined the isolation I would face learning from home, the lack of company as I could attend classes online and the lack of support. This aspect was a significant challenge and a setback to me. I felt very disappointed, and I almost gave up in joining the program. But then I realized that sometimes life never offers us what we need. I knew that what I wanted is to accept any situation that comes my way and look for the means to overcome any challenge that comes my way. I was also able to learn how to be independent in the various activities I undertake, and I believe that this situation has changed my life to a great extend.
