Article evaluation and review
Your task is not just to summarize but also to evaluate the article that you select to identify its strengths and weaknesses. This evaluation should be based on criteria from the field of sociology and its recognition of the relationship between human behavior and social systems, not on criteria based in personal opinion or value judgments. You must identify the article’s main point (e.g. thesis), summarize the literature review, describe the research method(s) used, detail the evidence/data presented (e.g. results), and explain the article’s contribution(s) to the field. You must also evaluate the limitations of the study. Lastly, you must link the article to a relevant sociological theory or concept. Be sure you number your responses so they correspond to the prompts/questions below. 1. Provide a properly formatted ASA citation. (NOTE: The entire paper need not be in ASA format, only your citation must be properly formatted in the ASA style.) 2. What research method (e.g. experiment, survey, participant observation, content analysis, secondary analysis, comparative historical analysis, etc.) did the investigator utilize?
