Comments (TS)
This proposal makes a convincing case for taking the issue of public health and refugees seriously, and explains the concerns expressed by the author.
Insofar as the paper proposes a research programme, however, it reads more like an inquiry into public health than an investigation of humanitarian diplomacy issues related to that.
It is recommended that the proposal is review in the light of making humanitarian diplomacy more central to the programme.
It is also recommended that the author formulates his topic more precisely, describes the approach he intends to take to analyse that topic, develops his thinking around the sources to be consulted, and a clearer view of the methods to be employed to extract data/facta from those, and to collate/ analyse the results.
More technically, it is recommended that the author considers the research questions also in the light that these are meant to guide the search for information in the sources: they do not – in themselves – have to be interesting or even important: in many case they are of the nature “how many”, “how often” or “where” and “who”: the art of the researcher lies in putting this information together in a manner which casts light over the topic of the research!
The author clearly knows about public health and its relevance to refugees: now it is a matter of develop a manner in which to research how HD might contribute, and it is recommended that the proposal is reworked and resubmitted.
COMMENTS CL: Yes, fully agree with Tore. More comments are in the margins.
In addition, you need a section on conclusions and recommendations (with an HD focus), and to identify to whom the paper might be presented.
We suggest you take these comments into account and prepare a fresh paper. We are keen to help you produce a strong product.
This sentence seems incomplete.
Just to discuss?
This has been a major topic for at least 150 years. The refugee component is not new either but has yet to be well protected from government interventions.
You need to build HD into the questions. Too much of this plan is based on this health care crisis and I’d suggest you spend more time on looking at how effective HD could help get things done.
This question is huge. Narrow it to something which addresses today’s major issues.
Again, where? This varies greatly from country to country, and as between different types of organisation.
This question is huge. Narrow it to something which addresses today’s major issues.
This topic will not be able to be covered properly from secondary data. Aren’t there people within your range you could interview? Including from WHO EMRO in Riyadh, or international NGOs etcetera?
