Background for Runner Alumni Mentor Program (RAMP)
The name of the program is ‘Runner Alumni Mentor Program (RAMP). This program has been running for the past two years since 2018. The project was a CSU’s grand initiative for a period of seven years up to 2025. The Runner Alumni Mentor Program (RAMP) was created to assist the students in graduating faster, give students real-world experience and support them in job placement after their graduation, and help in the installation of students and the alumni mentors in similar fields. Also, the program was started to offer professional development workshops such as networking, preparation of resumes, and interviewing. The California State University, Bakersfield (CSUB) alumni would also learn the better way to engage with their alma mater.
The alumni office or program management, employers, California State University (CSU), alumni board, and CSUB are the stakeholders of this program. Both the alumni board and office own this program. The users or customers of the program are students and alumni. The beneficiaries for the RAMP program are mentees or students and the community, also known as the local employers.
For efficient operation, the program relies on funding from The Alumni Association and insurance program (Mercer-Liberty Mutual) rebates, the CSUB Commencement photographer and local Floral business on campus. The program’s operations are geared towards the alignment of CSUB Alumni with recent graduates and existing students who require help on transitioning from schooling to the employment or job market. The program provides mentees and mentors with freedom of decision making concerning how mentors can offer the best help. Also, the RAMP program operates by aligning itself with the CSU initiative of 2025.
