Business designing

The business is a family restaurant that has been operational for more than 20 years. Primarily, within the years of existence, the company has been run by the same team, which is the family. However, there have been several changes that could cause a significant difference in business running. Essentially, [there is a need to evaluate the problems facing the organis5ation and find solutions for the company.

Business designing process

Essentially, the business, in this case, needs to address the various processes of changing the company in terms of operations and organizations. Multiple steps are involved in the changing process. For –instance, the managers of the restaurant must identify the vision of the business. In the beginning, the restaurant was built as a small entity that would provide unique Italian foods. Mostly, the fact that the restaurant has been operational for a long time shows that there has been uniqueness and quality in their services. However, in the face of the existing problem, the management must evaluate the goals and objectives of the business to come up with a vision of what the company must achieve in the short and long term.

On the other hand, there will need to analyze the stakeholders in the business. These are the people that contribute to the sustainability of the company. Importantly, the key stakeholders include not only the two owners but also their children and clients. First of all, the restaurant manager needs to analyze the needs of the clients. In this case, the clients have a desire to keep enjoying the Italian cuisines. However, the demands keep changing; for instance, some may be looking for a quiet and serene environment where they can have a meal with the-ire families and enjoy the meals without disturbances.

In essence, all the members need to be engaged to ensure that their needs are met. For instance, the three children are looking to work in a growing and competitive business environment. The three as workers also have ideas that could influence the business significantly. Notably, the other important step is to align the leaders of the company. This process involves communications between the leaders of the restaurant. In this case, there have to be constant communications between the two managers and the three workers who are also their children. This communication will bring on board new ideas and also ensure that all members are aware of the common goals and the need for change.

Significantly, there has to be the creation of a plan for change. This plan includes the new set goals. The plan must be systematic to ens0ure that the processes are arranged from most crucial to the less critical processes to avoid missing the point of change. The restaurant must have a clear understanding of what be changed. The plan will help to create an organized movement from the old failing loan crippled business to a new competitive restaurant that caters for the needs of the clients. While at this step, there is also the need to communicate the value of the change being envisioned and how it will benefit the business. For this process to be successful, there may need to train the members. This training should ensure that the support system for the operation of change is ready.

While planning the change, there is the ultimate need for the creation of rules by the management to ensure discipline and commitment to the new changes. These new strategies should be supported by the technology and the workers in the restaurant to ensure there is a smooth operation and transition to the new desired business. Additionally, there is a need for the couple to analyze the risks that they face with taking the new planned strategies. The principal aim is to avoid further burnouts to the already ailing business.

Necessarily, various factors are affecting this business; for instance, there are external factors such as the entry of other restaurants providing better services in the same environment. Additionally, the closing of the factory that supplies the Italian Foodland the increased distance from the alternative supplier is also factors. Internally, the restaurant is unable to continue managing demand. There are issues of inability to satisfy needs of the clients as well.

There are various factors affecting business processes that could affect the business both positively and negatively. One of the elements is human resources which involve the workforce. In particular, the restaurant already appears to have a shortage of employees. This shortage may affect the effectiveness of the strategies put in place. On the other hand, leadership is a factor considering that there have been disag8reements between the managers. In essence, frequent administration disagreements may cost the process. There is also a need to address resistance to change as a negative factor which may cause further sinking of the business. In this case, the organizational culture is a factor that is costing the business, essentially, running the restaurant as a preserve business of the family is causing a lack of creativity and commitment.

Significantly, to avoid a bad design of this business change, there is a need to ensure there is compliance with the set rules and strategies. Primarily, these rules must be placed in all processes of the business. For instance, coming late to work must be strictly avoided just as etiquette towards clients must be applied. There is need for caution with automation. Even when bringing technology on board, there is a need to ensure that the waiters control most of the processes.

Business process

Significantly, the primary problem for this restaurant is its inability to make returns that can help in sustaining the business and paying its debts. As a solution, the management needs to solve the other external problems first. For instance, the management should reevaluate the cost of continuing with Italian food as opposed to offering other foods such as the Chinese and other English foods. While Italian food maybe its selling idea, the cost of finding stable supplies is a significant problem. Hence, the best solution is to change the menu and offer foods that are in steady supply.

Since, the workers who are their children have backgrounds in catering, hospitality and management. There is need to incorporate them in the leadership of the company. Bringing in Luca as an additional cook will bring new cuisine ideas that her father lacks. Also, involving Sofia in managing the operations of the restaurant will be crucial to the fresh start of the business. Further, as the market is changing, Ariana needs to be involved in the marketing of the company to ensure competitive ideas such as advertising on social media or appropriate strategies such as rebranding the restaurant by giving it a new name to create the notion of a fresh start. Also, the restaurant has a shortage of workers which means that implementation of changes may be slow. There is a need to bring in two additional workers to serve as waiters with the help of Ariana and Sofia who may double up their roles. As the restaurant adopts the changes with time, other workers may be added to save on time and increase the ability to offer services.

However, some problems could emanate from the changes. For instance, changing the menu may lose clients who were particularly interested in Italian dishes. However, the risk of continuing with offering these dishes is higher. Hence, the management needs to survey its Italian food clients on the other foods they like. Introduction of these alternative foods will cater to these needs.

On the other hand, introducing fresh blood into management has possible consequences. The three daughters though skilled, lack experience in managing the business. Therefore, there is need for the incorporation of the two parents to work together without being faced out. The establishment of both experience and new dynamic ideas will be significant.

As for Ariana, there is need to make use of research on best marketing practices to avoid redundancy. Further, there might arise problems like high expenditure as a result of the introduction of marketing strategies. To save on cost, the management may consider cheaper and practical measures such as printing leaflets that could be given to clients. Additionally, the use of social media could provide a better solution.

Presentation

Significantly, the business process and the changes proposed are crucial to the b0usiness. The primary problem is the inability to make returns which must be turned around to allow changes that will see the business compete well. For instance, the inclusion of the three daughters into management will not only bring professional knowledge to the leadership, but it will also ens0ure continuity. This inclusion will help to ease the process of replacement which is inevitable since the old management must retire. This replacement process will be aided by offering an opportunity to the new managers who are the daughters, to gain experience from their parents and as they engage in running the restaurant.

The other impact caused by increasing the number of workers is efficiency. Additionally, a new menu will affect the business by ensuring profit-making by avoiding inadequate supply. However, there is a need for follow-up strategies that will help sustain the changes. For instance, the management should conduct a weekly survey by administering questionnaires on customers to understand the effect of changes.

Questionnaire

Necessarily, changes in number of workers will mean more spending on allowances. The workers need incentives such as commissions to motivate them to achieve more goals. On the other hand, the rebranding of the restaurant will also have a cost impact as the boards and menus must be rebranded to bear new names and mission statements. These are vital changes that demand the use of funds to give the restaurant a new look. This rebranding requires that the restaurant is repainted and a new wallpaper is placed as a consideration to muff the noise and improve the appearance.

Recommendations

In essence, to avoid bearing too much cost burden, the repairs and repainting should be done in faces starting with the repair of the smoke system. Additionally, the management should compare prices offered by various food supplies to choose the most cost efficient and accessible supplies. Also, to avoid spending too much on allowances, the business should pay new workers on part time basis during hours when customers are overwhelmingly many while the business tries to gain ground and then apply permanent terms after it is stable.
