COVID-19 pandemic has shaken every aspect of human life

COVID-19 pandemic has shaken every aspect of human life, particularly when it comes to the financial and health sectors. The impact as of now is dire, but experts warn about the long term effects of the virus, which is expected to affect a significant number of people globally. One of the most obvious long term impacts of COVID-19 is unemployment which is already on the rise globally. Many people will continue experiencing job losses because of the unsustainability of many small and medium enterprises to support a workforce. The financial instability will be experienced all over the world because of the quarantines and lockdown initiated in many economies, especially the major players such as the U.S and European nations.

The effects of coronavirus will have a long term impact on how many governments will view security in future where bio-threats has proven to be the most deadliest enemy that can face humanity. The world superpowers such as the United States have for decades relied on a physical enemy, but COVID-19 has proven that an enemy can use biochemical to cause even greater damage than some nuclear weapons. The attention will tend to shift on how countries approach security and laboratories will likely turn to military bases. Coronavirus has proven that an invisible enemy can be catastrophic and change in how global security is approached is expected to take a shift.

When it comes to health, patients who have recovered from coronavirus will likely experience long term impact side effects such as heart problems and clotting. The respiratory system will face major issues such as lung damages. Young & Raphelson (2020) states that, “doctors realized that people with heart conditions were at greater risk of developing a severe case of COVID-19.” The long term effects can be caused by the coronavirus or other factors occupying its space, such as complex and intensive treatment being administered to the patients using the breathing support machines.
