Culture of Our Time
Naturally, human culture is based on their interactions with their environment. The more advanced people explore their nature, the faster the advancement of their cultural activities. Throughout life, humans grouped themselves into societies characterized by common cultural aspects (Levin, 2014). Every behavior portrayed by humans, such as language and marriage, align with specific cultures. Notably, these cultural aspects are learned; therefore, a person’s behavior is primarily dependent on the learned customs. However, in the plight of globalization, technology has reshaped different cultures, differentiated others, and facilitated cultural interactions through digital channels (Levin, 2014).
In the current world, culture is ultimately characterized by aspects of integration in the digital environment. Explicitly, through technology, people have more opportunities than the past of interacting with different cultures, formerly detached by socioeconomic status. Eventually, people share cultural attributes as well as experiences within a short period. Thus, the observed nearly similar cultural universals such as large-scale gatherings (Levin, 2014). Large scale gathering is mainly enabled by the escalated levels of social connection within the cultures or across the different cultural boundaries. An example of these cultural events includes religious conventions.
Additionally, it is through these digital platforms, people interact and from which they recreate tangible world cultures. For instance, a real-world fan club is currently made of people geographically separated but have similar values and interests. Such online culture makes the current experience even better than conventional physical cultures, with the legacy media tying the most celebrated cultural celebrities (Levin, 2014). Although such cultures experienced in our times are barely socially positive communities, their existence greatly relies on digital networks.
