Data Encryption And Digital Signature
Digital signatures are forms of validations that people use to access digital information that is meant for them only. Digital signatures, just as any other form of signature, are unique to an individual, and it is a form of authentication. The digital signatures are formed on the bases of the cryptographic protocol, which is used to prevent tampering and forgery. The digital signature is used in financial organizations and healthcare organizations (Yang, Chou & Chen, 2019). Digital signatures use asymmetric cryptography that provides layer security and validation to data sent via online channels. The digital signatures are meant to act as decryption keys to the encrypted data sent via unsecured channels for security purposes.
The financial organizations use the digital signatures for online transactions to ensure the authentication of the person transacting funds from an account so that they can prevent forgery an unauthorized parties from accessing funds in other people’s accounts. The digital signature can be in the form of a password or pin code used to decipher the encrypted data and information in their accounts. The other organization that can benefit from using the digital signature is the health care instructions. Medical records are supposed to be private and confidential, which requires that they are stored in an encrypted form to prevent unauthorized access (Andrews et al., 2019). only those who are registered as signatories can access particular records using their digital signatures.
Governmental organizations that offer public services and contain information or data in their database that is meant for public consumption cannot use a digital signature. Digital signatures are only intended for private information designed for specific people, not the public, so if it is used to access public records, it will not be sufficient. It will waste a lot of time before everyone’s signature is registered. Advertising organizations are the other type of organizations that cannot use digital signatures on their advertisements. Advertisements are meant to be accessed by the public and not any specific peoples. If online ads use digital signatures, it will not reach as many people as it is meant to, which is bad for business.
As the chief technology officer of the national banking organization, I would recommend the organization to use the symmetric type of encryption (Ramtri, & Patel, 2020). The symmetric kind of encryption uses a single key to encrypt and decrypt data, which is not as complicated as asymmetric. It uses two keys of encryption and decryption (public and private key). The reason behind the recommending symmetric encryption is because it is simple, secure, and straight forward. It will not cause delays in transactions, which might affect the banking business ne natively as people nowadays want fast transactions. The symmetric encryption ensures that the process of encryption and decryption is swift, secure, and fast.
