            Pregnancy comes along with complications to both the mother and the unborn child. The requirement for a proper diet is always not an issue of contention because in both the mother and the unborn child need strong immunity to fight against diseases and growth issues associated with pregnancy. The safety of various food substances has been compromised with the emergence of genetically modified organisms, and thus, pregnant women need proper dieticians to advise on the type of diet to keep. The alarming rate of children born with diabetes due to poor diet considerations by parents has been greatly associated with gluten and dairy products. The intake of gluten, dairy, refined sugar, and meet is one of the several methods of maintaining a healthy diet.

Wheat is undoubtedly the primary source of gluten. However, the growing of wheat has been compromised over the years by the desire of human beings to improve productivity. The genetic modification of wheat has come at a cost, with the impacts being felt by the consumers of the products of wheat (Stephensons, 2017). For example, gluten composition of wheat products is more than the safe levels that are obtained from uncompromised wheat. Therefore, the safest way for individuals to deal with gluten is to cut on gluten intake. Therefore, pregnant women fall under the category of individuals who should, by all means, cut on gluten intake since the health of the unborn child is always the responsibility of the pregnant woman.

Pregnant women are prone to hormonal dysfunctions, which may sometimes be triggered by toxins build-up. Diet plays a crucial role in ensuring a manageable level of toxins in the body. Therefore, the amount of toxins present in one’s diet determines how much the body is at risk of facing hormonal dysfunctions. Gluten products, dairy, refined sugar, and meat are the most common causes of toxin build-up in the body. Therefore, pregnant women have every reason to keep away gluten, refined sugar meat, and dairy products from their diets. Besides, cases that involve hormonal reactions should be given special attention because the unborn child is at a high risk when hormones are involved.

The ability to lead a healthy life is always the goal of most individuals if not all. However, leading a healthy comes with responsibility. The type of food consumed by an individual is crucial in determining whether an individual is healthy or not (Wu et al. 2015). Avoiding the intake of gluten dairy, refined sugar, and meat implies that the diet will contain more fruits and vegetables. The intake of fruits and vegetables is beneficial not only to the individual but also to the environment. First, the individual is certain about the safety of food-borne infections that come with the consumption of animal products. On the side, the environment is relieved of the burden of having to keep more animals to sustain the diet requirements of human beings. Therefore, the decision to cut off gluten, dairy, refined sugar, and meat is a selfless gesture that helps not only the individuals involved but also the environment at large.

In sum, the diet composition of pregnant women should not be an issue of contention. Gluten, dairy, refined sugar, and meat are not among the healthy foods that should be present in a pregnant woman’s diet. The decision to rely on vegetables and fruits is a selfless gesture that helps both the individual and the environment. Generally the current and future generations should focus their attention on the importance of fruits and vegetables in diet.
