There is no length requirement but it is assumed that you completely answer/discuss the question that is asked.
Discussion Question: Briefly describe an episode of deviant behavior that you engaged in or that you witnessed someone else engage in (you can make something up if you feel uncomfortable). This is to be an episode of deviant behavior that is non-criminal. After you have described the deviant behavior, indicate whether it was formal or informal deviant behavior and whether or not the consequences were formal or informal in terms of social control/sanctions (if any).
Respond to Student 1s post
An episode of non-criminal deviant behavior I engaged in was failing an English test in high school. This would be considered informal deviant behavior because, although failing a test is frowned upon in society, it does not constitute an illegal act. The social control involved in the aforementioned failed English test was informal, as it was my father (family) who disapproved of my behavior and his opinion which I regarded as important and worthy of respect and of change in my behavior.
Respond to Student 2s post
A deviant behavior I have engaged in is having a girlfriend. Since I am a female, this does not conform to the heteronormative expectations of our society. It is an informal act of deviance, however, at some time my relationship could have been considered formal. The consequences that I have experienced have been informal. They have consisted of disapproval and criticism from friends or family.
