FractalApps
FractalApps requirements analysis shows that the business needs a network in three locations. They include a small headquarters in Washington DC where founders and senior staff reside, a sales office based in NYC (Brooklyn), and a development house in San Francisco where most developers work and live. These descriptions show that the design of the network will be based on remote access to the system for employees, a reliable network that connects the headquarter office, and two branch offices.
The design process will describe network design based on physical and technical aspects. Every FractalApps office will be connected to the VPN through the internet. For economic reasons, A VPN will be acquired from a local service provider at a relatively low cost than importing a more expensive one. VPN will enable the FractalApp to maintain its flexibility because it will be more comfortable, cheaper, and secure to add more sites and locations as the business expands with time. A VPN is advantageous to the organization in various ways. First, the employees will easily remote into the network while at home and participate in any development as if they are in office. Secondly, a VPN will allow a branch office to be added easily to the network. Since the business would require an exchange of data and voice, both voice calling and video conferencing capabilities will be established among the three branches. The network will be set with Cisco networking devices to enhance routing and switching. These devices are trustworthy and the best in the field because they provide excellent support, warranties, have extended service time (durability in performance). They can be obtained from affordable prices.
Head office
Since FractalApps looks forward to increasing its services in the future, each of the three founders will be allocated a room. They will work from the first to the third floor to oversee the performance of other senior employees. Thus, LAN will be set up on each floor separately and connected to the internet. Four servers, which include a web server, proxy server, database server, and File server, will be required on the ground floor. A switch will be fixed for each floor to control LAN in that room. Work stations will be connected through a switch, and each room has a dedicated printer. Every floor will have a dedicated WiFi router for employees in each room to connect to the internet. The building will be equipped with wall plates and CAT 6 cabling in each office. A
Cisco switch with 50 ports is used on each floor so that work stations can be added to the floor whenever needs arise. Routing and accessing VPN will be accomplished by ASA (Adaptive Security Appliance).
Sales office or a development house
Personal computers for FratalApps founders or senior staff will be equipped with Cisco webcams to work with CallManager Express and Communication servers to support video conferencing facilities. A high-performance MCU will be configured on each floor at headquarter and each office to control and set up video conferencing.
