Dr. Groothuis’s views and coverage of St. Augustine’s philosophy is profound. Many Christians in the contemporary world are content with light theological content as opposed to the profound thinkers in philosophy, such as Augustine, whose work helps humans to learn to argue from social status or condition to the existence of God. Augustine was born in Egypt (354) as a brilliant young person he excelled in academics and ended up becoming a master teacher of rhetoric. Later notched ahead into Christian teaching thanks to the teachings of Albert Magus, who was a role model to Augustine to venture into the field of Christian philosopher during his early thirties. The voice of the child tormented Augustine and compelled him to step into Christianity, as captured in Book III titled The Confession (Groothuis, 89).  He undertakes self-analysis in his conscience..

Augustine understood sin as a condition that affects the person as a whole rather than a collection of incidental mistakes committed. Hence his most profound acquaintance was himself what made his heart restless, which means the most in-depth search and reach of the individual as the center of affection, will, and intellect. The other view of sin was sin before God period. Others are social stigmas that cause shame and guilt. Other main arguments include Humans know the moral law and inability to abide by is to satisfy their conscience, which results in guilt and restlessness among sensitive soul. Idolatry is the chief sin that relies on the concept of the perfection of God for its energy.
