How Obama Created his Legacy with Americans
Obama has been considered one of the best presidents in the United States of America. He came up with a significant and progressive domestic policy agenda. During his presidency, universal healthcare was attained in the U.S. despite the substantial political opposition he experienced. Obama’s inducement bill created a quick recovery from the economic recessions which were being encountered by great countries in the European Union and which have followed strict productive policies. President Barrack Obama was able to save massive job opportunities when he authorized the supply of low-interest loans to the motor vehicle industry, which was facing a financial crisis. He therefore prevents the vehicle industry from collapsing. During his presidency, he oversaw and formulated an essential banking reform which minimized the cause of any financial constraints in the future. The banking reform introduced also protected customers from misleading financial practices.
Another legacy he left was his fight towards women’s rights. He reinforced women’s right to equal pay for equal work done. During his presidency, there was an increase in the minimum wage for employees from government contractors (Block 189). He abolished the bank’s Usurious participation in federal student loans by cutting down the costs of loans for college students. During his reign, the national tax system became more progressive.
Barrack Obama’s department of justice advocated for voting rights of the minor groups.in his race as a president, and he formulated crucial initiatives that reduced confinement practices and racist policing. During his reign, the supreme court supported the law, which advocated rights for the guy and lesbian couples’ right to marry. Obama ensured that LGBT employees were not discriminated against by federal contractors. He canceled the transportation of undocumented immigrants who came to the U.S as children. Obama formulated environmental and energy rules which have enhanced the reduction of countries’ gas emissions. Obama did leave a legacy during his presidency as a black president of the United States (Block 190).
Why Storytelling was so Crucial to Obama’s Mission.
Obama’s mission in the American factory is to be in a relationship with the workers, connect and work with them. The factory in the question was about to close and they wanted workers to tell their stories about their struggles and hopes. Obama believes that everyone has his or her story which gives us meaning and purpose on how to organize our lives. Storytelling enables one to have a direct conversation with individuals and thus creating a connection that allows people to move forward together. During storytelling, people are given opportunities to express themselves freely, and they tell their stories from their perspective.
Storytelling also builds trust among the individuals. People trust each other with their stories, and through this, the entire world can know people’s opinions on individual accounts. Storytelling also helps people to comprehend something they did not know before. Obama believes that an essential role of storytelling is making people get out of themselves to experience and understand the lives of others. This helps everybody to be in harmony with each other.
How storytelling is an Essential Way of Communicating and Learning from Each Other.
Stories Make Strong Points
According to Obama’s, stories make strong points. They believe that stories are so compelling, and a good story makes individuals get out of themselves and experience the lives of others. Through understanding your neighbor’s story, you will appreciate him or her, and thus you will live in harmony as a society because you know each other well through your stories. Stories help listeners to learn and discover some lessons on their own.
Stories are Memorable and Meaningful
It is difficult for an individual to forget a specific story when Michelle Obama saw the pictures of the workers in the factory; she remembered the story of her father. People tell stories from experience and according to their perspective. Stories are shown in a face to face conversation; thus, one can read the emotions of the people, and this makes the communication memorable. Stories provide a greater context that enables us to understand the situation. Stories create meaning in people’s lives as they develop bonds. When people share their stories, an attraction is created between the teller and the receiver.
My Story and Its Mission
On holidays I work in a hospital as a transfusion volunteer. I came across a little girl who was suffering from a certain disease and she needed a blood from her old brother. The older brother had been cured of the same illness, and he had developed some antibodies which would have cured the disease. The boy was the only hope for her sister’s survival. The doctors requested the boy to donate the blood to his sister. The boy agreed that he would save the sister by donating his blood to her. As the transfusion continued, the boy grew pale and weak. He thought he was dying and asked the nurse when will he start dying. The boy was willing to die to save his little sister. The mission of my story was to emphasize the art of giving. We should be ready to help the needy despite our current situation.
