Introduction
It comes as no surprise that the workplace environment is rapidly being changed by the rise of technology. In fact, recent research has identified that a majority of the current global tech-savvy corporations have developed a culture where all of its workers are now open to the concepts and trends which challenge the existing workplace practices. With this in mind, it is becoming more apparent to see the reasons why most companies have become more and more interested in implementing these technologies into their business operations. As part of their yearly information technology strategies, in order to help their customers improve their existing knowledge about business technology.
So, what are the current trending technologies in the business market? Let’s take a much closer look at some of them (Stergiou, 2018). To begin with, is the Internet of things. The concept of IoT was introduced to illustrate the establishment of a connected network of devices that could easily share data and information. However, IoT was initially introduced to be primarily applicable to the logistics industries and in the industrial sector. Still, since then, it has gradually begun to enter the business communications sphere.
So, with the use of different types of wireless communication devices such as those which are WIFI and Bluetooth enabled, mobile devices have been integrated to keep users in touch regardless of their geographical location. Additionally, cloud technology goes hand in hand with the use of IoT. With the use of cloud services, the transfer and retrieval of data and information from the cloud online have proved to be less problematic as compared with physical data storage centers. Therefore, businesses will have a reduced application and infrastructure on their network resources as well as their processor power required for their network devices.
Regardless, the core concept of cloud computing has provided a rather significant impetus towards the development of the internet services area. This can also be attributed to the increased number of cyber-attacks that are constantly being improved, stirring the general public (Tao, 2014). Henceforth, the necessary mitigation procedures in solving this issue will include the adoption of yet another trending technology, cybersecurity. Simple adoption of the technology will prove not to be sufficient without ensuring that the business staff members, departments and all relevant stakeholders are provided with a training program.
The program will serve the sole purpose of ensuring that each and every individual coming into contact with any business asset or resource is made aware of what is expected of them to facilitate network and information security. Additionally, other measures have also been introduced in promoting corporate and individual security, such as cybersecurity frameworks, with one of the most common ones being the GDPR, the General Data Protection Regulation.
