Modern presidents are considered as representatives of citizens put in place to pursue a political agenda using inherent powers. A president is entitled to perform several functions as outlined in the constitution. The primary functions of the president include commanding the armed forces, issuing executive orders, diplomatic, and legislation duties. A president who adheres to the mentioned duties ends up with ambitious policies, which results in the development of the country. The president carries the role of American foreign policy. As a federal official, the constitution confers the president with the power to appoint ambassadors. The Department of State and Department of Defense corporates with the president to protect the Americans abroad. Finally, the president is a legislator who proposes new legislation and sees the legislation become laws. The constitution requires the president to influence Congressional leaders to pass new bills. Congress presents new bills to the president for signing.
