Monitoring Toddlers
Technology has become an inevitable aspect of modern society. I believe every sector in today’s society, including communication, farming, transport, and security relies on technology for its operations. Technology is also used in every household in one way or another. I think toddlers are one particular group directly affected by technology.
Toddlers are exposed to various forms of technology at that tender age. It is the responsibility of parents and other adults to monitor toddlers while using technology to protect them from dangers associated with its use.
Education has also been simplified by technology because most content for learning can be accessed through the internet. I have personally seen so many gadgets, including tablets that are tailored to aid toddlers in their early stages of learning. Tablets and computers are educational, but toddlers can be distracted by games and videos in them. Without proper monitoring, the toddlers can spend a lot of time on these gadgets and be left with little time to rest, which is essential for their growth.
I think it is also crucial for toddlers to be monitored while using technology to avoid addiction. Phones and television have been found out to be addictive to children, and it might interfere with their social interactions with other children, which is a necessity during growth. Technology does not give social skills on how to behave in the presence of other people and how to respond to different situations.
Lastly, I believe it is important to monitor technology to avoid toddlers accessing inappropriate content. The internet is an open space, and some people post age-sensitive content there. Such content can include adult videos and violent games, which can influence the behavior of toddlers. Children grow up emulating the behavior of what they see, and therefore it is essential to monitor the use of such technology.
