Monitoring Toddlers and Technology
I think technology has become a crucial element in today’s world, and its use has a direct effect on everyone. People use technology in various activities like learning, communicating, and interacting with friends and family. However, technology can be harmful if used in the wrong manner, particularly by toddlers. I think toddlers should be monitored concerning the use of technology because of three major reasons. First, technology is addictive and makes toddlers spend much time on it and lack time for other important activities. Secondly, technology leads to access to inappropriate content by the toddlers, particularly in the case of watching television and surfing the internet. Lastly, toddlers can be bullied or molested by the people they interact with on social sites. In this paper, I attend to explain why toddlers should be monitored while using technology.
There are many fun activities associated with technology that toddlers indulge in. I believe that watching television for long periods is the activity that consumes a lot of time for toddlers during their early stages of development. The TV contains many programs for children and other amusing content that draws their attention. They also enjoy playing games on gadgets, like computers and tablets. If the toddlers are not monitored, they can spend a lot of time watching television and playing games and lack enough time to rest or do other essential activities like personal hygiene. It is, therefore, vital that they are monitored so that they can have a balance on how they spend their time.
I think toddlers can also access inappropriate content through technology, primarily through the internet, television, and video games. It is because such pieces of technology are open spaces and can be accessed by anyone. If the toddlers are not monitored, they can stumble on adult content that will later affect their morals. Violent video games could make them experiment on what they have seen, leading to fights with friends. Older people should ensure they chose appropriate content for toddlers to avoid such problems.
Lastly, I believe toddlers should be monitored in their use of technology while interacting with other people over the internet because they are naive and vulnerable to cyber-bullies and child molesters. The number of cyber-bullies and child molesters keeps increasing every year. I think some people can intimidate children on social sites and lower their Self-esteem or ask them for sensitive information from them for their gain. It is, therefore, the responsibility of every parent to teach toddlers how to avoid such interactions that might be harmful to them. The parents should also teach toddlers how to react when faced with such situations and encourage an open relationship with them where the toddlers can share their experiences. I believe limits should also be put in place for toddlers to control them when using technology.

Toddlers are likely to be addicted to various forms of technology if they spend too much time on them. They are also likely to access inappropriate content, especially on the internet and television. Lastly, they can be bullied and molested by people on the internet, aiming to take advantage of their naive nature.
It is, therefore, crucial for parents and other older people to monitor children to avoid such incidents.
