Oral Presentation
This course has been very informative and life-changing, helping me realize and learn more about versions of myself that I did not pay attention to and how these may affect my personal life or even my career as a Physical Therapy Assistant. An important concept that I have learned in this course is how to use communication to influence how others see us. Since, as a PTA, I will be coming into contact with patients who are in pain, the form of communication that I will use will determine how the patients perceive me. This may also ultimately influence their medical outcomes. Here, an essential concept is presenting self. As PTA, my priority will be developing a friendly, caring, responsible, and encouraging self-presentation, both in my social and professional lives. The other essential concept that I deem relevant in my line of work is mindful listening. As a PTA, I am bound to encounter various patients requiring various services. To ensure that I meet their needs as expected, I will have to apply mindful listening techniques. To do so, I will have to give them my undivided attention, ask questions where they seem vague, and even note down the crucial points of consideration.
