peaceful heart provides the body with life
According to Proverbs 4:30, a peaceful heart provides the body with life, while an envious being breeds rot to their bones. Using the concept developed by the Bible, it is evident that envy brings rot to the bone. Envy refers to the behaviour of lacking contentment with your belongings and seeking to possess someone else’s belongings. A peaceful heart in the Christian doctrine refers to a heart that embraces sound principles like holiness, truth, and righteousness. These conditions help Christians from committing sins, thus protecting them from diseases. By keeping the body safe from crimes and diseases, the flesh is in god health. Envy pushes people to admire things possessed by other people (Gill, 2020). By seeking prosperity, happiness, and wealth of other people, people prey their flesh and spirits, thus weakening the healthy and robust parts of the body. The Bible considers the bone to be the most substantial part of the body, and envy eats it from within. In medicine, envy can lead to the weakening of the bones. Envy leads people to do activities that threaten the health of their bones, thus could weaken the bones
In Hebrews 4:12, God’s word is capable of separating the spirit from the body and the joints. In answering the question of how the word of God does that, it is crucial to differentiate souls from spirits. The soul, for instance, is consists of emotions, the mind, and the will to do things. Souls can experience pain, thus can easily be separated from the spirit which does not exist in bodily form. The soul represents the bodily affections and inferior faculties, while the spirit represents the superior faculties (Gill, 2020). The spirit and the soul are invisible, while the body is visible, which implies that the joints and marrows are evident, yet covered by the flesh. The word of God is sharp, can see beyond the human souls and spirits, thus can access the marrows and joints, which seem invisible to human beings.
