Physician Assistant
Introduction
The field of medicine is expansive essentially when it comes to offering personalized help to the patients. It is a basic requirement that a specialist undertakes an undergraduate program for four years. The four years program that I completed in 2001 adequately prepared me to take diversity into medical practices. It is at that juncture that I would undertake practicing in Santa Domingo. A challenge, however, emanated in the disconnection from my family who have been residing in the United States. As a result, I have been paying them regular visits thou inconveniencing my career. As a matter of mutual demand therefore I have eventually decided to settle in the United States where I wish to promptly resume my commitment to patients cares. I have thus decided to take up a program in Physician assistant since it would take the least effort as well as time to resume my task. This paper highlight, the reasons why I have decided to settle for a physician assistant program rather than the lengthy MD protocols required to become a physician.
Choice of Physician Assistant
The primary reason why I joined the medical field is to quench my passion for patient care. I have as a result engaged in expansive care programs while practicing medicine in Santa Domingo. The aspect has laid a solid foundation for working hand in hand with a fully-fledged physician even in delicate operations such as surgeries. As a result, I felt that it would be considerate undertaking the simplest training to ascertain my skills. The physician accreditation takes four years compared to the two years physician assistant. Taking a physician assistant program would thus save on the time required to settle back to my field in the United States. The implication, in this case, is that I would also incur reduce expenses in enhancing my skills. Additionally, the program is simpler since I don’t have to undertake extensive MD protocols required for fully accredited physicians. Despite the divergence, I will also be in close contact with my patients due to the intertwined roles. I at this point acknowledge that I will lack autonomy since I have to work hand in hand with physicians. The demerit however alludes to the passion that I have for intricate patient care. The art of patient care is still fresh in my fingers based on the previous experience. I further acknowledge that I will have an opportunity to resume my duties as soon as i pass the Physician Assistant National Certifying Exam (PANCE). The decision to take up additional skills is at the discretion of the physician assistant rather than a legal requirement. The aspect lays a foundation for time conservation. My analysis further found out that, a physician assistant gains skills on the ground rather than through training. The implication is that, the medical operations would be resumed as soon as possible. It is that verge that formed the foundation for my decision bearing in mind my previous experience on the ground. I, therefore, intend to rejoin the practical field as soon as I finish my program. Perhaps I will reconsider undertaking additional skills but the priority is continuity in delivering patients care. I eventually appreciate the family reconnection that the program will avail. Since the program is simple, I will have enough time at my discretion to spend with my family. Additionally, I will join them within the precise two years of training. It is alright to mention that, I intend to reside with them as I attend my designated workplace. The aspect will save on the cost that I have been undertaking in the constant visits. Besides, I will commit the time spent on regular visits to patients’ care. I have the idea of extending my operations to voluntary programs when out of the work schedule. The aspect will both enhance my skills while attending critical as well as demanding patients’ needs.
Conclusion
After graduating from the four years medical course in 2001, I have been undertaking medical practice in Santa Domingo. While my family has been residing in the United States I have been committing hefty expenses and time visiting them. I, therefore, decided to settle with my family while shifting my career to the United States. I however had to decide between taking up physician or PA tasks. I have eventually decided to go for PA rather than a physician since it would take the shortest time possible. Additionally I will not be required to take intensive training for four years rather a precise two years. I will thus quench my passion in patient care with continuity nurtured in my previous undertaking. I will eventually have the opportunity to reunite with my family since I will reside with them while in my working program. Besides, the extensive time utilized in undertaking visits will be directed to voluntary patient care programs.
