Uses of informatics
Informatics is a useful technological development with healthcare facilities. They have helped maintain the record of patients, assist clinicians in improving the care process. The informatics is helpful in the clinical areas, research, and development, which will ensure the improvement of the care process. Also, the informatics has helped improve the care process when there is the development of information systems, as well as new technologies (Sewell, 2018).
Before self-assessment, I thought that my competency level was lower than I had anticipated. It is due to the reason that we do not apply computers most of the school work. I first learned more about computers when I got to college. After doing the assessment, I realized that I employ the use of technology at an increased level compared to the previous stages of life. I work in a critical care unit, where I am applying the skills I learned from the course. I have a feeling that I am not where I would like to be in terms of my competency skills due to the reason that the technological knowledge I have gained has been self-taught.
The competency of nursing informatics
They include computer skills, where I am required to search and retrieve data from the files. Also, informatics knowledge is another competency, which is critical to acknowledge the need for having nursing data, which ensures an improvement of patient care. Informatics skills are also useful in the interpretation of data sourced form patients. I work in a critical care unit in a local healthcare facility where I employ the use of these competency skills to improve patients’ outcomes.
Resources
They include online video and help links, which will be useful in enhancing competency skills. I have the intention of developing my skills on the computer by looking at various ways that I can increase my knowledge and understanding of informatics.
